Auction Time!!!

It's Auction 2013 time!!  Valley's biggest school fundraising and FUNraising event of the school year!!  We are pleased to be returning to the Davison Country Club and will be held on March 9, 2013.  We are currently working to gather items for both our live and silent auctions, the more participation we can get, the better the auction.  We are currently holding meetings every Friday morning, at the school, at 8:30, everyone is welcome.  Even if you can't make it to the meetings, any help in gathering items is appreciated.  Do you know someone who owns a business?  Offering goods or services is a great way to advertise!! Is there a small resturant, store, or other business that you frequent that you would like to help support?  We have found that those stores that advertise in the brochure or donate to the auction have been supported throughout the year by the valley family.

Past Auction items have included:
- Detroit Tigers Tickets
- Gift Certificates from such resturants as 501 Bar and Grill, Red Robin, Logans Roadhouse, Cici's Pizza, Pizza Hut, The Good Beans Cafe, Bob Evans, Starbucks, and Buffalo Wild Wings. Just to name a few.
-Trip to Mackinaw by private plane.
- Legal Services
- Signed Script and other memorabilia from the hit tv show "The Big Bang Theory"
- Paintings
- Theater Tickets
- Private Dinner & Concert by world famous blues musician Larry McCray.
- Chiropractic Services
- Dance Lessons

As you can see, the only limit is your imagination!  It takes a lot of work to make the auction a success but it is a fun and rewarding night for all.  There are no small donations or small ideas.  Working together, we can make this years auction our best yet!  If you're interested in helping, in any capacity, contact Kaye or Minka.

Come Celebrate Wazenflune 2012 With Us!!!

Come One, Come All!! Join us for Wazenflune 2012, Friday December 21, 2012 beginning with Lunch at Noon and the Wazenflune play to begin at 2:30.  Call Minka at (810) 767-4004 for Reservations.



Wazenflune, a Short history...

Wazenflune is The Valley School's special winter holiday celebration.  Faculty and students created this event in 1974 to encourage giving to each other anonymously.  Little traditions have been added each year.  It began as simply a motivational speech from a senior dressed up as the "Wizard of Wazen" and giving goodies to the Lower School Children.  Since then, "Secret Woos"and "flunes" have been added.  A Woo is a special person to do nice things for the week of Wazenflune.  Flunes are coloful paper feathers with Compliments written on them that are given from one person to another.

Today, the Wizard continues to visit each classroom with candies.  There is an all-school talent show and lunch attended by alumni, parents and grandparents.  Wazenflune has grown into a week of festivities which still emphasizes giving time, compliments and good fun to other members of our Valley School.  The week of celebration concludes with an group sing along of the "12 days of Wazenflune" by our school and alumni.
